Abstract:
The European Project for Ice Coring in Antarctica (EPICA) recently completed drilling an ice core dating back 740,000 b.p.; setting a record nearly twice as long as the previous. At a recent meeting of the International Partnerships in Ice Core Sciences, participants set a goal of recovering an ice core of 1 million years in time to honor the International Polar Year in 2007-2008.
