Morphological features of different species of planktonic foraminifers recovered from core samples from DSDP sites in northern Indian Ocean were studied under scanning electron microscope. Taxonomic classification of "intermediate" and "transitional" forms could be resolved to nearest taxa. Precise dating and cyclic variation of palaeotemperature was worked out on the basis of the data obtained.
