An outline of the ANDRILL (ANtarctic DRILLing) initiative's McMurdo Sound Portfolio science plan. The unifying theme of the initiative is to focus on linking Antarctic climate and glacial events to global records. To this end existing stratigraphic data will be updated and new data compiled into a composite reference section for the Antarctic continental shelf. Four locations in McMurdo Sound (New Harbor, McMurdo Ice Shelf, MacKay Sea Valley, Southern McMurdo Ice Shelf) were chosen as the best locations to address this goal. (MTE)
