ODP Site 1165, continental rise of Antarctica found in Prydz Bay sector of the Southern Ocean, provides samples for study of the paleoenvironmental magnetostatigraphy of the Pliocene and Miocene. The drilling cores yielded a 1000m thick continuous sedimentary section of terrigenous and hemipelagic deposits with a few minor disconformities. (MTE)
