Abstract:
Complex methods of geological and geophysical research (deep seismic sounding, paleomagnetic methods, gravity methods, petrological-geochemical methods and etc.) reveal different tectonic-magmatic structures (mid-ocean ridges, volcanic plateau, aseismic ridges and etc.) in ocean floors. For all that, together with typical elements of oceanic crust there are structures with apparent features of continental crust such as increased thickness and evident granitic (granite-gneiss) component. Examples of such structures were found in the Indian Ocean, Madagascar Island, and Kerguelen Plateau.
