Some problems of material balance during secondary alteration of an ocean floor volcaniclastic sequence from the Marshall Archipelago are considered. The study revealed a removal of Si, Mg, Fe, Ca, and an enrichment in K and Na, with Al content being constant. Mn concentrates at the surface of volcaniclastic rock fragments.
