Abstract:
The compendium compiles and presents in both tabular and graphical form the raw results of oxygen (delta (super 18) O)- and carbon (delta (super 13) C)-isotope analyses of the planktonic foraminifera Globigerina bulloides and the benthonic foraminifera Uvigerina (peregrina) picked from 1070 samples in the late Quaternary section of 15 deep-sea piston cores. Excepting one site at the Equator in the central Western Pacific Ocean, the cores mainly come from submarine platforms (typically 1-2 km water depth) in the Tasman Sea and the Southwest Pacific Ocean, west and east of New Zealand, and are strung out roughly in a north-south transect from 25 degrees to 50 degrees S latitude. Sediments in the Tasman Sea cores are foraminifera nannofossil oozes, while those from the Southwest Pacific comprise alternating sections of pelagic and hemipelagic oozes. Identification of isotope stages in the records enables an estimation to be made of down-core sediment ages, which typically extend back to 150-300 ky BP.
