Abstract:
A total of 315 sediment samples from the SW Pacific region, consisting of 180 surface or near-surface sediments from the SW Pacific, 64 samples from SW Pacific holes of the Deep Sea Drilling Project (DSDP) and 71 samples from the Ross Sea, have been analysed by X-ray fluorescence spectrometry for 14 trace elements. This follows the analysis of these samples for major elements previously reported (Glasby et al. 1979). A series of maps showing element distribution in the SW Pacific has been prepared and the data have been subjected to statistical analysis.
