This memoir, prepared in the frame the IPOD 79 expedition, aims at specifying, through refraction seismics, the transition between oceanic and continental crusts in N Bay of Biscay. The data were recorded in July 1979 during an original campaign involving two ships. The seismic lines were laid in the various zones: continental, transition, oceanic zones. In order to attain the selected objectives (determination of discontinuities down to mantle), several seismic methods were applied on the various lines: conventional reflection, central common point line, fixed distance (30 km and 5 km) line, receivers laid on sea floor (OBS). These data were processed by means of newly developed programs. A model of geological structures (velocity, depth and trend of discontinuities) across the continental margin of N Bay of Biscay could finally be worked out
