The DSDP (Deep Sea Drilling Project) made it possible to collect numerous data which were essential to research. France is a member of this project, and has most of the data, which are stored at the BNDO (Bureau National des Donnees Oceaniques, or national bureau of oceanic data), comprising the DSDP-IPOD (International Phase of Ocean Drilling) Data Bank.
