The bulk density of two sets of DSDP sediment samples from the central equatorial Pacific can be estimated using first and second order terms of carbonate percentage, depth below the seafloor and sediment age. The equations for the two data sets are essentially the same, and yield bulk density estimates that are comparable in accuracy to the experimental measurements.
