Moerz, Tobias (2002): From the inner shelf to the deep sea; depositional environments on the west Antarctic Peninsula margin; a sedimentological and seismostratigraphic study (ODP Leg 178). Abstract:
Aim of this study was to describe and characterize three typical West Antarctic Peninsula continental margin depositional environments. Seismic, downhole and laboratory tools and techniques were applied to record physical and chemical proxies for a multifacetted and differentiated understanding of the particular environments. The results of this research from the Antarctic Peninsula illustrate the complex dependencies and inter-relationships between the continental ice, shelf, slope and rise and demonstrate the potential of drift settings in reconstructing Antarctic glacial history.
