Abstract:
Paleoclimate studies have an increased need for high resolution time series analyses of sedimentary sequences. Sediment color is being used as a method to obtain climate proxy records. This paper reviews digital sediment color analysis as it is applied to Ocean Drilling Project (ODP) cruises. Methods are described and case studies are presented, including: ODP Site 1011, northeastern Pacific, off California; ODP Site 1098, Palmer Deep, western Antarctic Peninsula; and ODP Site 893, Santa Barbara Basin, off California.
