Hadavi, Fatemeh (2002): Biostratigraphy and palaeobiogeography of the Gregory Member (Campanian) of the Western Interior Basin, South Dakota. International Nannoplankton Association, The Hague, International, Journal of Nannoplankton Research, 24 (1), 9-13, georefid:2004-059540

Abstract:
A biostratigraphic study of calcareous nannofossils from the Gregory Member of the Western Interior Basin (South Dakota) has allowed the recognition of two calcareous nannofossil biozones of Sissingh (1977)-CC20 and CC21, equivalent to subzones UC15b (super TP) and UC15c (super TP) of Burnett (1998). These biozones span the Early/Late Campanian boundary interval (Sissingh, 1977). The upper part of the Gregory Member has been compared to two coeval samples from the Gulf of Mexico (DSDP Hole 538A) in order to attempt a palaeoecological analysis. The similarities in nannofossil richness and nannofloral composition indicate that there was open communication between the two sites. Differences in the patterns of nannofossil abundance observed in these two basins are shown to be related to palaeolatitude rather than preservation.
