Abstract:
ODP sites 1165 and 1166 (Leg 188) from Prydz Bay, offshore Antarctica, provide sediments that record the transitions from preglacial to glacial and deep- to shallow-water environments. Marine sediments from the Miocene and Quaternary and carbon-rich rocks of the Turonian (Cretaceous) were obtained to study methane diagenesis and authigenic carbonates in continental rise and shelf sediments.
