Abstract:
The work presents the structure of Cenozoic sedimentary basins of the East Asia-Pacific Ocean transition zone within the Yellow, East China, Philippine and Bohai Seas described from unified methodological positions on the basis of the latest geologo-geophysical data, results of deep-sea drilling in 9 DSDP and ODP legs including. A classification of sedimentary basins is proposed by the type of the Earth's crust structure and by the position of the basin in relation to the major morphostructures of the ocean-continent transition zone. Among the basins formed on the crust of oceanic and transition types, basins-trenches, back-arc and inter-arc basins are distinguished. Among the basins formed on the continental crust, fore-arc, intra-arc, continental-margin and intra-continental basins are defined. The role of eustatic fluctuations of the World Ocean level and that of tectonic movements both global and regional in the formation and evolution of basins is analyzed.
