Moody, Judith B.; Worsley, Thomas R.; Manoogian, Peter R. (1981): Long-term phosphorus flux to deep-sea sediments. Society of Economic Paleontologists and Mineralogists, Tulsa, OK, United States, Journal of Sedimentary Petrology, 51 (1), 307-312, georefid:1982-054365

Abstract:
Phosphorus and carbonate-free accumulation correlate in three equatorial Pacific cores for the past 10 my. P-accumulation exhibits a secular decrease through time with strong superimposed oscillations. Conservative extrapolation suggests that deep-sea sediments compete with shelf phosphorite formation for phosphorus, consuming at least half of dissolved riverine input.
