Steinhauff, D. Mark (1985):
Paleoecologic and biostratigraphic analysis of Miocene Foraminifera (Protozoa) from glacial-marine sediments, Ross Sea, Antarctica. 186 pp., georefid:2006-039044
Abstract:
Seventy-one samples were examined in detail for foraminifera from the top of DSDP Site 272 to approximately Core 272-19-3. A barren interval is noted between Cores 272-19 and 272-30. Foraminifera from the middle through lower? Miocene succession, Subunits 2A and uppermost Subunit 2B are documented in detail. No age diagnostic species were recovered. Middle Miocene, Site 272 foraminifera are closely related to the Site 270, E-E-N Assemblage zone of Leckie (1980) and Leckie and Webb (1980, 1983, in press), and to material reported from Site 273 by D'Agostino (1980) and D'Agostino and Webb (1980). The E-E-N Assemblage zone is represented by solution resistant taxa that suggest open-water and little or no ice.
