Abstract:
ODP sites 1166 and 1167, Antarctic continental margin in the Prydz Bay sector of the Southern Ocean, provide evidence for studying the glacial growth on Antarctica during the Eocene-Oligocene transition. Site 1167 provides good evidence of sedimentation associated with movement of the Antarctic ice sheet. This study looks at the mineralogical and geotechnical properties that control the lithostratigraphy as a way to understand the glacial evolution of the Prydz Bay region. (MTE)
